In less than two months, BetterPlace Safety Solutions, supported by Jungle Ventures, British International Investment (BII), Macquarie Capital, and Site Capital Partners, has completed its second acquisition in Southeast Asia.

According to a statement released on Monday, the platform for managing blue-collar labor paid an undisclosed amount to acquire Troopers, a technology company providing flexible talent solutions based in Malaysia, as per reported by BW Disrupt.

Through the integration of its automated gig matching and rostering capabilities with BetterPlace’s SaaS platform, Troopers will empower businesses in Malaysia and Southeast Asia to manage the complete lifecycle of their frontline workforce, including recruitment, onboarding, verification, attendance, payroll, and upskilling.

Betterplace was established in 2015 by Pravin Agarwala and Uday Singh. The company’s SaaS platform assists businesses in managing their blue-collar workforce throughout its entire lifecycle, offering a range of services that includes hiring, background verification, and digital onboarding of blue-collar workers.

In contrast, Troopers was founded in 2017 and specializes in helping Malaysian businesses hire pre-screened frontline workers on a part-time basis through an on-demand platform.

In February, BetterPlace made its debut in the Southeast Asian market with the acquisition of MyRobin, an Indonesian startup. This move was fueled by the company’s extended Series C funding round, which raised USD 40 million from investors including Macquarie Capital, Site Capital Partners, Jungle Ventures, and British International Investment. With over USD 20 million allocated for spending in Southeast Asia this year, BetterPlace is aggressively expanding its presence in the region.
