Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors (Mo Alts) announced on Wednesday that it has acquired a minority stake in Lal Delicacies, a company that is widely recognized for its Indian delicacies, including ‘Mysore pak’ and ‘kaju katli’. The investment totaled Rs 330 crore ($39.3 million).
Founded in 2010, Lal Sweets is a Bangalore-based company that distributes its products through 4,000 modern trade outlets, 7,000 general trade outlets, quick-commerce platforms, e-commerce platforms, and its website. It asserts that it has been profitable and bootstrapped since its inception.
MO Alts, a division of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, oversees both private equity and real estate funds, with a combined AUM of $2 billion across the two asset classes.

The private equity vertical is dedicated to supplying growth capital to mid-market companies in its preferred sectors of consumer, financial services, life sciences, and niche manufacturing. The typical investment size is between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 million. In the past 18 years, the private equity vertical has made over 44 investments, completely exited 17 investments, and partially exited 2.
It has recently made investments in SK Finance Ltd, an Indian NBFC that specializes in secured business loans and the financing of new and used vehicles, as well as in VVDN Technologies, an engineering firm, and Pan Healthcare, a manufacturer of hygienic products.
