In a Series A funding round anchored by Exfinity Venture Partners, sports tech platform str8bat has raised $3.5 million (approximately Rs 29.4 crore). TRTL, Eternal Capital, and VCats Group, as well as existing investors Techstars and SucSEED Innovation Fund, have also participated.
The Bengaluru-based organization had previously secured $517K in funding from its current investors and other sources.
str8bat announced that the proceeds will be allocated to the enhancement of training and performance monitoring for athletes, with a particular emphasis on cricketers.
str8bat developed sensor-based instruments for cricket in 2017. The company was co-founded by Gagan Daga, Rahul Nagar, and Madhusudan R. The product employs an AI engine to analyze the batsman’s stance, the type of stroke, and their movements. The platform also asserts that it facilitates the connection between users and the most exceptional coaches on a global scale.

str8bat has collaborated with SG Cricket to introduce the “world’s first smart willow” and has served clients such as Rajasthan Royals, Cricket Australia, and SG Cricket. This cricket bat is equipped with an IoT device that provides sophisticated shot tracking without the need for cameras, allowing players of all levels to access actionable insights and performance recommendations.
According to str8bat, its platform is presently utilized by approximately 400 elite-level players, and it has recorded more than a few million shots. It pursues a goal of surpassing one million participants within the next five years.
