For decades and decades, we have never seen a more dreadful and painful period which began from March, 2020. Yes, we are talking about the COVID-19 virus spread that hit our lives and turned everything upside down overnight. Colleges, Offices and most of the government establishments were shut down by the end of March, 2020. Me and my brother (Kunal Shukla & Kushagra Shukla) were staying in Bangalore at this time and we were about to fly to our hometown on 1st April but alas our flights got cancelled and we were stuck in Bangalore with no options remaining to go back to our hometown which turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Initially our days were spent in a panic, we were trying all the possible ways to get back to our hometown including the effort towards obtaining a road pass to travel by our own vehicle went in vain as we were denied for the same by the Govt. Authorities. Subsequently we had to accept the fact that we have to stay back until the situation returns to a normalcy. Our days went by performing the regular household chores, we were cooking our own food, cleaning the dishes, house as there were no maid or servants to take care of all these things.

Me and my brother were always passionate about entrepreneurship, we had our interests in the F&B sector. It was pretty evident that during the lockdown every other business was getting impacted except the F&B industry as you all know that Food is our essential chain of life. Companies like Swiggy, Zomato were thriving irrespective of the curfew or the lockdown as numerous people like us were stuck in Bangalore and there weren’t many resources at peril to cook and thus people were depending on the food delivery of Zomato or Swiggy etc.

After immense observation, research and market study we decided that it would be the perfect time to start our venture with the cuisine that was less explored by many existing players in the market. All of this led to the preparation of a strategic food menu, our very own logo and the brand name that took birth was Firangi Bhukkad! We officially launched from our residential flat on the 5 th of May, 2020 our initial plan was to focus on the night food market and our service timings being from 8pm to delivering till 3am. Our only motive and aim from Day 1 have been to serve the best quality food with adequate quantity and complete customer satisfaction.

We stuck gold right from the first day when we received more than 10 orders which truly motivated us to do better and thrive. Day after day we were growing in terms of orders, customers which led to numerous Zomato, Swiggy delivery valets lining up in a queue outside our residential flat. We also had to face a few hectic nervous nights which is usual in any sector of business, someone had informed the cops about us as we were operating from a residential flat which led to the arrival of a team of cops who returned after verifying all our valid papers and permissions.

After a couple of months, in the month of July, 2020 there came a day when we felt the need of expansion after a growing number of orders and customers. We reached out to “Hyprful – Your Trusted Expansion Partner” who had their multi branded cloud kitchen setup all across Hyderabad and were now looking to start in Bangalore, we liked their concept and they too showed interest in working with us. All of this led to them providing us with a space, manpower, equipment’s and managing our operations too which really helped us in focusing on our product lineup and spending less of our resources on operations because of all this it led us to serving from 8am to 3am in the morning which helped us to gain the Day and Evening customers too.

Talking about the numbers which we could achieve till now, we have clocked more than 2000+ in orders which came from within the 5km radius, 50000+ happy customers reach via all the aggregators and more than 400+ ever happy repeat customers. Our main aim now is to expand exponentially all across Bangalore and then to the other states of India.

Bioprime Agri Solution Pvt. Ltd. is a Pune-based platform founded by Dr. Renuka Diwan, Dr. Shekhar Bhosle, and Dr. Amit Shinde. Trio entrepreneurs were enjoying their high-flying careers with their fantastic academic credentials. But when they found a gap in the agri-sector, they left behind their straightforward path and chose a challenging one to impact farmers and the planet positively.

At Bioprime, their goal is to make agriculture more sustainable by using environmentally friendly chemistry and cutting-edge technology. Trio entrepreneurs built a successful business worth $7.97M as of May 22, 2023, generating ₹3.39Cr ($422K) as of March 31, 2023. Let’s begin the story of Bioprime Agri Solution Pvt. Ltd.

Founders at Bioprime Agri Solutions:

Bioprime Agri Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was founded by three researchers, Dr. Renuka Diwan, Dr. Shekhar Bhosle, and Dr. Amit Shinde, who are committed to using advanced technology to revolutionize agriculture in India and around the world. Driven by this vision, they are working tirelessly at Bioprime to make it a reality.

Dr. Renuka Diwan: Co-founder & CEO at Bioprime

Meet Renuka, a female CEO who holds a PhD in Plant Biotechnology and completed her postdoctoral research in Genetic Engineering at Pune University, India.

Prior to BioPrime, Renuka worked as a scientist known for her important research on the anti-cancer effects of coumarins and flavonoids, which inhibit topoisomerase I and II. She has written 10 research papers and holds a patent for producing and extracting coumarins. With over 25 years of experience in research and agriculture, Renuka has valuable, meaningful contributions to her field.

Renuka has been honoured with the prestigious Women in Entrepreneurial Research award from FICCI-BIRAC for her contributions. Dr. Shekhar Bhosle

Dr. Shekhar has a Ph.D. in botany and has worked a lot in applied biotechnology. He has published over 10 research papers and holds a patent for animal feed additives. With more than 30 years of experience in research, entrepreneurship, and agriculture, Shekhar is also a member of the Board of Studies for Botany at the University of Pune.

Dr. Amit Shinde

Dr. Amit has a Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology and has led research and development at a top plant tissue culture company. He has published over 10 research papers and specialises in creating microbe-based formulations. With more than 25 years of experience in research, entrepreneurship, and agriculture, Amit brings a wealth of knowledge to the field.

At Bioprime, with their strong background, the trio entrepreneurs were enjoying their high-flying career, but rather than ignoring the issue, they left their conventional path behind and combined their expertise to make biochemistry work for the betterment of nature & human life.

Bioprime’s journey begins:

Many times people listen and discuss problems like low crop production, crop loss from climate change, and farmers losing confidence; however, most of them often overlook them. But these trio entrepreneurs didn’t do like this. Rather than overlooking these issues, they were resolved to find answers to the questions. This is how Bioprime's journey started.

Concept to Creation: Bioprime Agri Solution

Now, the concept was clear in the trio entrepreneurs’s minds. Soon, they developed a solution called Bioprime. In 2016, Dr. Renuka Diwan, Dr. Shekhar Bhosle, and Dr. Amit Shinde founded Bioprime Agri Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a platform that is redefining agriculture and transforming lives.

Bioprime Agri Solution Pvt. Ltd.

This AgBiotech startup develops innovative, affordable products for farming, gardening, and flower growing so that farmers can enhance soil, crop, and water management. Their products not only promote sustainable farming practices but also nourish both people and planet, aiming for a better future.

Bioprime works on improving crop resistance to climate change using specially designed biomolecules. These biomolecules help plants grow faster and more reliably by affecting important processes in their biology, leading to better crop yields. The technology can be used with all types of crops and farming methods.

With their strong academic backgrounds and expertise, they could have easily pursued successful, high-flying careers. However, instead of taking the easier route, they embraced a more challenging path. Their hard work paid off, and they built a multi-million-dollar company, generating ₹3.39 Cr ($422K) in revenue as of March 31, 2023.

Hats off to trio entrepreneurs for leaving their easy path behind and choosing a challenging one!
