Shreyansh Kokra- Canvaloop
Meet the CEO and founder of Canvaloop, Shreyansh Kokra. Shreyansh, who belongs to a business family. He always has been active in his family’s textile business, and that’s why he has a thorough understanding of the textile sector.
Furthermore, he completed his graduation in finance and worked at Barclays Corporate and Investment Bank. To pursue a master's in entrepreneurship, he went to the USA with the specific goal of launching a fintech company, but from that point on, everything changed.
Inspiration Behind Canvaloop
When Shreyansh was pursuing his masters in the US, he had a solid plan to launch a finance firm, but his college project completely changed his mindset.
While completing a college project, Shreyansh noticed that
- 9000 liters of fresh water is used to make one pair of cotton shirts.
- Synthetic clothes such as polyester and nylon are made from crude oil and are non-biodegradable like plastic; moreover, when they are washed, they release microplastics into water.
- Additionally, they noticed one more problem, which was agricultural waste burning.
- Every year in India, 10 to 15 tonnes of waste are burnt.
After experiencing all these, he was clear about filling this gap in the textile industry. He came back to India and started his entrepreneurial journey, launching his startup, Canvaloop, the solution for agriculture waste and textile pollution.
What does Canvaloop do?
In 2020, Shreyansh Kokra founded Canvaloop with the Head of Marketing, Nandini Kokra, and the Head of Operation, Dhruv Gupta, to tackle agriculture waste.
This Surat-based company, Canvaloop, converts agriculture waste such as hemp, pineapple, and banana into eco-friendly textile fibers and yarns. Additionally, they share their technology with other firms to make the fashion industry more sustainable.
Canvaloop Target
Canvaloop’s next target is to reach a new height at ₹2000 Cr. Valuation within just 7 years. Canvaloop wants to make a positive environmental impact while revolutionizing the fashion industry by converting agricultural waste into textile fibers. By the year 2030, Canvaloop's mission is to make environmentally friendly textiles accessible to all people. Additionally, the vision of the company is to “make textile fibers made from agricultural waste the mainstream fashion material by 2030”.
Shreyansh is a truly inspiring entrepreneur who saw the waste as an opportunity instead of a problem and turned that into ₹50 Cr. worth of business.
