Dream A Dozen was launched by a female CEO, Megna Jain. This baking and gifting business has generated ₹1 to 1.5 lakhs prior to COVID, and in FY21 and FY22, it has generated ₹30 lakh and ₹ 60 lakh, respectively. Today, she is generating ₹1 crore in annual revenue.
Megna Jain at Dream A Dozen:
Meet an inspiring female entrepreneur, Megna Jain, the founder and CEO of Dream A Dozen. This story is about Megna's passion, which led her to experiment that later turned into a successful business. Today, Megna operates her startup, generating an annual revenue of approximately Rs 1 crore.
In her summer holidays of 11th grade, Megna enrolled in a baking class. She enjoyed her class and started experimenting with eggless cupcakes in her home kitchen.
Megna completed her B.com. in finance and investment at Christ Investment, Bangalore, India. During her college years, Megna's entrepreneurial spirit inspired her to sell cupcakes in college. She enjoyed this process of making cupcakes a lot.
At the age of 18, she started selling cupcakes to her university's cafeteria and never looked back. Soon, with the support of her family and friends, Megna turned her passion into business. Today, she has built a business named Dream A Dozen with a team of approximately 20 women.
She is not only an entrepreneur but also an inspiring public speaker. She has been a TEDx speaker and is passionate about encouraging more people, especially aspiring women entrepreneurs. Megna's work has been recognized nationwide. During their three-month campaign, "Everywomanadiamond," she was featured on hoardings and newspapers in over thirty Indian cities, and she was chosen as the youngest of four female achievers.
Megna Jain’s Next Step:
After completing her graduation, Megna worked with Inner Chef, a food tech company, for almost 1.5 years. Additionally, Megna started working in the dessert category, but when she left, she was managing operations across 4 kitchens in Bangalore.
After that, she began her training at Cakewala, where she gained high-valuable experience in a bakery setting. While the time, she decided to join and work with the top food industry companies, Megna applied to Starbucks. But, not accepted by Starbucks, Megna decided to be her own boss, working on her dream of building her business.
She worked tirelessly, completing nearly all tasks, including designing logos and curating menus, in preparation for the launch of her startup. At the time, she received an offer from Starbucks. This time was not easy to choose a path. One side, Starbucks, a high-flying career with a good package, and the other side, her dream of entrepreneurship, a challenging path.
She took a leap of faith and rejected Starbucks’ job offer and began her entrepreneurial journey by launching her startup, Dream A Dozen.
Dream A Dozen:
Headquartered in Bangalore, in 2018, Megna Jain launched her startup, Dream A Dozen, a gifting and celebration company.
This is a bakery and gifting company that provides 100% eggless cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts for celebrations and corporate gifting. In just 6 months, her business expanded from a small kitchen to a large commercial space in 2020.
Dream A Dozen Breaking Barriers:
As per statistics, in commercial kitchens, there are only 3% of chefs who are female. To address this disparity, Megna made the decision to run a cloud bakery that features an all-women kitchen. Around 98% of employees are women at her venture.
Dream A Dozen's Team:
Megna and her team work extensively for large companies, handling their office pantry and holiday gifts. They also ship gift baskets all over the country for company celebrations.
Over the last 5 years, they have collaborated with over 100 corporate clients, including Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, EY, Indiqube, Cisco, Ericsson, KPMG, Narvar, and others.
Reaching New Heights:
Dream A Dozen is booming day by day with its efforts. Prior to COVID, this startup generated ₹ 1–1.5 lakh in monthly revenue. In FY21, it made ₹30 lakh, in FY22, it generated ₹60 lakh, and in FY24, this business has crossed ₹1 crore in revenue. Megna has aimed to build this as a brand with ₹ 100 crore worth in the next decade.
