Zomato’s Head Of Business Finance Hemal Jain Steps Down

Zomato's global head of finance and CFO of its B2B grocery supply unit, Hyperpure, Hemal Jain-resigned, the company announced to the stock exchanges.

Jain resigned on December 16, 2024, and will officially leave her role on January 31, 2025. She joined Zomato in 2018, after working at Unilever.

Jain's departure follows Zomato receiving an Rs 803 crore demand notice from GST authorities, which the company plans to challenge. This is the second senior management exit at Zomato in the past few months, after cofounder and chief people officer Akriti Chopra resigned in September.

In her resignation letter Hemal Jain, said,"I have had the privilege of being part of the Zomato journey and its dynamic team over the past six years. However, after much reflection, I have taken this tough decision to move on and explore a different path."

Meanwhile, the company continues to show strong growth in revenue and profit. Zomato reported a net profit of INR 176 crore in the second quarter (Q2) of the 2024-25 financial year, up 389% from INR 36 crore in the same quarter last year. Operating revenue increased by 68.5%, reaching INR 4,799 crore, compared to INR 2,848 crore in Q2 FY24.
