Paytm now lets NRIs from 12 countries make UPI payments in India using their international phone numbers. They don’t need an Indian SIM card and can use their NRE or NRO bank accounts.
NRIs can now use the Paytm app to send money, pay through QR codes and shop on indian platforms without dealing with currency conversions or international gateways. The service allows instant transfers to UPI IDs or mobile numbers, avoids remittance delays and extra charges.

The service, powered by the National Payments Corporation of India, is available to Indians living in Singapore, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Oman, Qatar, the USA, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK, France, and Malaysia. It’s currently in beta and will be available to all eligible users soon.
Paytm also offers features like downloadable UPI statements in PDF or Excel, automatic expense tracking, payment hiding, and viewing balances from multiple linked accounts. It also has an AI-powered spending summary tool called Paytm Playback.
To use the service, NRIs need to download the Paytm app, sign in with their international number, verify it via SMS, and link their bank account. Paytm says this move supports its goal of financial inclusion by helping Indians abroad stay connected to India’s digital payment network.
