IndiGo's parent company, InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, has announced that Amitabh Kant will be joining its board as a Non-Executive Director, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval.
Kant is a senior bureaucrat from the 1980 Kerala batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He has played a key role in major national campaigns like Make in India, Startup India, and Incredible India. Most recently, he served as India’s G20 Sherpa, helping build agreement on important global issues such as climate finance, digital infrastructure, and economic and tech reforms.

Amitabh Kant has had a distinguished career spanning over four decades. He has held key roles in organizations such as the National Highways Authority of India and India's National Statistical Commission, and has led major branding efforts, including Incredible India. He was also involved in important infrastructure projects, including the expansion of Calicut Airport.
Kant served as the CEO of NITI Aayog for six years, where he led impactful initiatives like the Aspirational Districts Programme. This program, aimed at improving development in underperforming regions, was widely praised by the UNDP for its positive impact.
