EaseMyTrip Cofounder Nishant Pitti Pledges Shares Worth Rs 95 Cr For Personal Use

Six months after reducing his stake in easemytrip, Chairman Nishant Pitti has pledged 9 crore shares, worth about ₹94.5 crore, to Motilal Oswal Financial Services for personal use.

According to a BSE filing, this pledge amounts to 2.54% of the company's total shares, and about 13% of the 45.4 crore shares Pitti owns. The pledge was made on June 20.

Before this, Pitti had already pledged 8 crore shares. Interestingly, just last month, he got the pledge on 10 crore shares removed, reducing the total to 8 crore.

With the new pledge, the total number of pledged shares has increased to 17.01 crore, which is about 4.8% of the company’s total shares.

It’s worth noting that Pitti has been steadily reducing his stake in EaseMyTrip since last year. His holding dropped from 28.13% in March 2024 to 12.8% by March 2025.

In December 2024, he sold around 5 crore shares through a block deal for ₹78.3 crore. A month later, in January 2025, he stepped down as CEO. At that time, Pitti said he wouldn’t sell more shares and clarified that the previous sale was for personal reasons.

This update comes shortly after EaseMyTrip publicly denied any ties to betting platforms. In April, the company clarified that it had no connection with the Mahadev Betting App, following searches by the Enforcement Directorate. EaseMyTrip stated it remains committed to ethical business practices and is fully cooperating with authorities.

On the financial side, the company saw a slight drop in revenue in Q4 FY25, reporting ₹139 crore, down from ₹164 crore in Q4 FY24. However, for the full year (FY25), revenue remained steady at ₹587 crore. The company’s profit before tax for FY25 stood at ₹143 crore.
