Dream11 shifts away from fantasy gaming; enters sports-entertainment space

dream11 has started shifting from a pure fantasy gaming app to a global sports entertainment platform. The company is now offering a second-screen experience that includes creator-led watch-alongs, fan reactions, banter streams, and free-to-play fantasy formats.

Dream11 co-founder and CEO Harsh Jain said in post, "Submitting the NEW @Dream11 app for approval to google Play & Apple App Store today! Fun AI teaser video. The company said its new product is designed to boost user engagement and act as a companion to live sports broadcasts for its 250 million–plus users.

The shift comes just months after Dream11 stopped all paid fantasy sports contests due to the government’s ban on real-money games. Since then, the company has moved toward free-to-play formats and creator-driven sports engagement.

The move aligns with parent company Dream Sports’ expansion into new consumer categories. Recently, the firm launched Dream Money, a personal finance app that lets users invest in digital gold, open fixed deposits and track expenses and assets by linking their accounts.

Meanwhile, FanCode is closing its sports merchandise business due to low margins and counterfeit issues, shifting its focus to content and streaming.

These changes reflect a broader strategy at Dream Sports to move away from its earlier dependence on paid fantasy gaming.
