The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has partnered with audio products and smartwatch maker boat to support DPIIT-recognized startups in the D2C and manufacturing sectors.
The collaboration focuses on providing startups with mentorship, resources, and guidance for prototype development and international market expansion.
According to Sanjiv, Joint Secretary of Startup India, the initiative aligns with India's vision of fostering world-class manufacturing and entrepreneurship by connecting startups with industry leaders like boAt.
Founded in 2015 by Sameer Mehta and Aman Gupta, boAt offers headphones, smartwatches, and speakers. Despite a net loss of ₹79.7 Cr in FY24, it generated operating revenue of ₹3,117.7 Cr.

This initiative is part of DPIIT’s ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s startup ecosystem. Recent partnerships include flipkart, Amazon (which committed $120 Mn through its Smbhav Venture Fund), Moglix, HCLSoftware, Tally Solutions and HDFC Bank, all aimed at providing startups with mentorship, resources, and growth opportunities.
Under the Startup India initiative, launched in 2016, DPIIT has recognized 1.57 Lakh startups as of December 25, creating over 16 Lakh jobs.
