Blinkit Appoints Vipin Kapooria as New CFO After Two-Year Gap

Quick commerce platform Blinkit has appointed Vipin Kapooria as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), marking the company's first full-time CFO appointment in over two years. 

Kapooria, who previously served as Vice President and Business Finance Head at flipkart, brings over four years of experience in managing business finance, particularly in the mobiles, electronics, and large appliances categories at Flipkart, a Walmart-owned company.

This move follows the recent resignation of Hemal Jain, who managed finance operations for both Blinkit and Zomato. Earlier, Blinkit's former CFO, Amit Sachdeva, resigned in August 2022 and later took on the CFO role at IGT Solutions and then at PhysicsWallah in 2023.

The new appointment reflects Blinkit's focus on strengthening its leadership after several key departures, including Flipkart executives moving to rival companies. Notably, Swiggy has hired several former Flipkart leaders as part of its expansion efforts.

Blinkit's move also highlights the growing competition in the quick commerce sector, with Flipkart's Minutes service already operating in select areas of Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Mumbai, aiming to challenge rivals like Blinkit and Instamart.
