Primus Senior Living, an eldercare firm, raised $20 million in venture funding, with General Catalyst providing $7 million. Gruhas, co-founded by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath and Puzzolana Group’s Abhijeet Pai, invested the remaining $13 million.
Primus Senior Living, created by Adarsh Narahari, provides home-based healthcare, wellness, lifestyle, and social interaction services to seniors. Primus runs 500 homes in Bengaluru for seniors who want to live independently while receiving these services. With the new funding, the company hopes to serve 3,500 houses in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad.
Narhari stresses the need for a comprehensive answer for Indian elders’ engagement, healthcare, and lifestyle demands. He added that intergenerational housing and eldercare will receive some cash. Silicon Valley venture finance firm General Catalyst made its first substantial investment in India.
Kamath remarked that India’s ageing population and declining joint family systems require creative aged care. He applauded Primus’ forward-thinking approach, saying this investment opens new eldercare prospects.
Gruhas invested in Age Care Labs in 2023. Kites Senior Care raised Rs 45 crore and Khyaal raised $4.2 million this year, indicating investor interest in the eldercare sector.
