Rippling Co-Founder Prasanna Sankar Alleges Harassment By Wife, Chennai Police Over Custody

Prasanna Sankar, co-founder of multi-billion-dollar company Rippling, has accused his estranged wife Divya and the Chennai Police of harassment amidst their ongoing custody and divorce dispute.

Claims of Extramarital Affair and False Accusations

Sankar said that his troubles began after he discovered his wife’s alleged extramarital affair which he claims led to a demand for a massive divorce settlement.

He alleges that when negotiations failed, Divya filed a "false police complaint" accusing him of domestic violence.

Legal Struggles Across Borders

Sankar further claimed that Divya filed for divorce in the US while he had already begun proceedings in India. He also accused her of abducting their 9-year-old son to the US. Sankar filed an international child abduction case, which he won, leading to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the parties.

Disputes Over the MoU and Custody Agreement

As per the MoU, Sankar was required to pay around Rs 9 crore and Rs 4.3 lakh per month in support while sharing joint custody of their son. However, he claims Divya refused to comply with the agreement, particularly the clause about keeping their child's passport in a shared locker which led to more legal conflicts.

Alleged Harassment by Chennai Police

Sankar alleges that when he tried to enforce the MoU through the courts, Divya retaliated by filing a kidnapping complaint. He claims Chennai Police came to his hotel late at night, prompting him to flee with his son for fear of wrongful arrest.

Despite informing the police about the legal proceedings and his son's safety, Sankar claims that the police harassed him and his family. 

He further alleges that police raided the home of his friend, Gokul, in Bengaluru without a warrant, detained him in Chennai and tracked his movements illegally.

Claims of Corruption and Abuse of Power

Sankar accused the Assistant Commissioner of Thirumangalam Range and a Sub-Inspector at the Thirumangalam police station of trying to extort money from him, knowing that he is the co-founder of a multi-billion-dollar company.

Legal Petition for Protection from Harassment

Sankar also said that he plans to file a legal petition to seek protection from harassment after learning that the police and his wife are planning a joint press conference with accusations against him.

Divya's Response and Counterclaims

In response to claims, Divya denied Sankar's allegations and made several serious counterclaims. She stated that Sankar lured her to India under the pretext of settling a property issue, during which their son was taken from her by a person named Gokula Krishnan. She filed a complaint with the police, stating that she didn’t know what happened to her son.

Allegations of Financial Misconduct and Threats

Divya also accused Sankar of transferring matrimonial assets to his father’s name to avoid taxes and further moving them to his brother, Vidyasagar, in Thailand. She claimed that she was threatened with signing documents to prevent her from reporting these alleged tax crimes.

Claims of Sexual Assault and Criminal Behavior

Divya made even more serious allegations, claiming that Sankar is a "sexual predator" who secretly recorded women and assaulted her. She claimed that Sankar was arrested by Singapore Police in connection with these allegations but was released on bail. 

She also accused him of being involved in a sting operation related to prostitution, which led to his removal from 0xPPL.com, after which he sought help from the Chennai Police.
