Rajasthan's New Policy Brings Influencers Into Welfare Scheme Promotions

The Rajasthan government introduced a new policy to recruit social media influencers to promote its welfare schemes and programs. The Information and Public Relations Department (DIPR) has rolled out the - Social Media Influencer New Broadcaster Policy.

This policy, announced in the Rajasthan 2024-25 budget, aims to involve influencers in promoting welfare schemes across the state.

How It Works

Under this policy state influencers will be categorized based on their followers or subscribers-

  • Category A: Influencers with 1 lakh or more followers will receive ₹25,000 per month.
  • Category B: Influencers with 7,000 to 1 lakh followers will earn ₹15,000 per month.

Each district will select one influencer from each category, while divisional levels will recruit two influencers in Category A and one in Category B.

Eligibility and Monitoring

To qualify, applicants must meet specific follower counts on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or X (formerly Twitter). Selected influencers will create engaging and creative content to promote government programs.

Posts and activities will undergo validation by the DIPR, ensuring compliance and quality. Influencers cannot post content without prior approval, and payouts will be performance-based. Those exiting within the first month will forfeit their payment and no additional allowances like travel expenses are included.

Bridging the Gap

“This initiative ensures that our welfare schemes reach every corner of Rajasthan, bridging the gap between governance and the people. The government believes this innovative approach will connect with millions of citizens through the influencers' creative and impactful content, ,said a DIPR official.

By empowering influencers as "new promoters," the state aims to enhance awareness and participation in its welfare initiatives, making governance more inclusive and accessible.
