Foxconn Secures Taiwan Govt Approval for $2.2 Billion Investment in India, US

Foxconn, officially Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., has received the go-ahead from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) for two major overseas investments worth more than $2.2 billion—one in India and the other in the United States.

As reported by Focus Taiwan, the MOEA’s Department of Investment Review approved a $1.49 billion capital infusion into Foxconn Singapore Pte Ltd, a wholly owned arm of the company. This investment will then be channeled into Yuzhan Technology (India) Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary helping expand Foxconn’s manufacturing footprint in India.

Just a month ago, Foxconn had already invested $1.48 billion (around ₹12,800 crore) into its Indian operations. A major part of that effort includes the construction of a smartphone display module assembly unit in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. This facility will play a critical role in supporting Apple’s broader strategy to shift parts of its supply chain outside of China.

Meanwhile, Foxconn is also ramping up its presence in the United States. The MOEA has cleared a $735 million investment to create Project ETA (DE) LLC—a new company focused on manufacturing data center modules and assembling servers. This initiative aligns with the rising demand for cloud computing infrastructure and AI-driven technologies in the U.S.

These twin investments reflect Foxconn’s ongoing strategy to diversify operations globally, driven by both geopolitical dynamics and the evolving tech landscape.
