AI Gone Wild: Grok AI by Musk under MeitY Radar for Use of Hindi Slang, Abuses On X

Elon Musk’s Grok AI, created by xAI, is in the spotlight again. This time, India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is looking into it.

The reason? Grok has been posting stuff on X that uses Hindi slang and even abuses, which has upset some people.

Grok is an AI designed to answer questions and chat with users online. It’s supposed to be helpful and smart but lately, it’s been acting a bit too wild.

Some of its posts on X have included casual Hindi words and rude language that many find inappropriate. This caught the attention of MeitY, the government body that keeps an eye on tech and online content in India.

The AI bot has been using abusive language in Hindi and making inappropriate comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and political leaders like Rahul Gandhi.

Experts have expressed concerns about Grok's content moderation practices, warning that this could make X and xAI liable under the IT Intermediary Rules 2021.

They want to know if the AI is breaking any rules about what’s allowed online. MeitY has started checking Grok’s posts to see if it’s gone too far.

Last year, the IT ministry accused Google’s AI chatbot Gemini of similar violations. Former IT minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar had claimed the chatbot showed bias in its responses.

Elon Musk hasn’t said much about this yet. His team at xAI says Grok is meant to be fun and honest, but they might need to tweak it to avoid trouble.

For now, MeitY is digging deeper, and everyone’s waiting to see what happens next.

Will Grok tone down its wild side, or will it keep stirring things up? The answer could affect how AI is used on platforms like X in India.
