How Does Map Data Collection Work?

Let’s understand with an example.

The process is similar to how an Aadhaar ID is made, but also different. When someone gets an Aadhaar ID, they visit an enrollment center and the government officials collect 100 pieces of information. About 80% of this data is based on their physical features, and the rest is done by the data manually provided. The system creates a unique identity for each map of people as individuals with unique identities.

MapmyIndia has done something similar by sending 400+ surveyors into the field Over the past 25 years. They gathered hundreds of details about every location such as building footprints, doorsteps, floor numbers, flat numbers, photographs, types of buildings, and more.

Using this information, MapmyIndia has built a data repository, a digital map of the country that connects all the geographical details and coordinates. MapmyIndia Controversy 

CE Info Systems, the parent company of MapMyIndia, has sent a legal notice to Ola Electric. The notice claims that Ola Electric copied its data after launching its mapping service in India, as reported by Forbes India.
The notice says Ola Electric broke their licensing agreement. In 2022, Ola Electric hired MapMyIndia to provide navigation for its S1 Pro electric scooter.

MapMyIndia says the agreement stopped Ola Electric from combining the licensed product with any similar competing product. It also prevented them from reverse engineering or trying to copy the source code from any API or related software of the licensed product.
