Threado, a community management startup, has raised $3.1 million in funding round from Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India.

Threado, a community management startup, has raised $3.1 million in funding round from Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India.

The round also saw participation from Gemba Capital, Speciale Invest and PointOne Capital.

Other prominent investors including Deepinder Goyal (founder & CEO of Zomato), Pankaj Chaddah (cofounder of Mindhouse and Zomato), Krish Subramanian, and Rajaraman Santhanam (cofounders of Chargebee) and others invested in the company.

The startup plans to use the funds to strengthen its team, double the product, and accelerate traction in the North American market.

The Bangalore-based Threado was founded in 2020 by Pramod Rao (former senior executive at Zomato), and Abhishek Nalin, It provides a dashboard for businesses and creators to manage their online communities on Slack, Discord, Discourse, Twitter or GitHub.

“In a world where products are commoditised, building a community is a core differentiator. But building and scaling a community is hard. Our goal is to make it super easy for businesses to engage with their customers and grow through the power of community”, said, Pramod Rao, founder of Threado.

The startup claims to be used by over 200 communities such as On Deck, Ultrahuman, AppSmith, Glide Apps, Startup Grind, Rocketlane, Scaler Academy, Fampay, and others.

“The role of a community has changed in today’s world and will have an impact on how organisations scale and sustain themselves. Companies embracing communities as a core way of engaging with current and potential customers, and the execution capability of the team, drove our investment in Threado,” said, Piyush Kharbanda, general partner at Ventures Southeast Asia & India.

The startup plans to grow its customer base to 3,000 community-led companies over the next 12 months.
