The first bodybuilder from India to use a wheelchair is Anand Arnold born 1987.

He hails from Punjab's Ludhiana.He took up the silver medal in the Mr. Olympia (Wheelchair) competition in 2018.

In 1987, Arnold had a son. Arnold won his first bodybuilding championship at the age of 13.

Two years later, he was diagnosed with spinal cancer, leading to paralysis from the neck down. 

After three years of being confined to the bed, he resumed training while reliant on the wheelchair. 

Four times and twelve times, respectively, Arnold has won the Mr. India (Wheelchair) and Mr. Punjab (Wheelchair) titles.

American author Allen Woodman published his autobiography, Weightless: A Real Tale Of Courage And Resolve, in 2015.

There are four men’s events taking place at the 2023 Arnold Classic.  

One is the Pro Wheelchair Championship, scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, OH.
