Laxmikanth Puducherri – Petfolk:
Meet an inspiring entrepreneur, Laxmikanth Puducherri, the founder and CEO of Petfolk. This man is not only a pet lover but also passionate about technology. Today, Laxmikanth has built a ₹35 Cr. worth business, combining his passion with technology and now shaping the future of pet wellness.
Why Petfolk?
Laxmikanth and his wife both are pet lovers. This was the time when they had two pets. As pet parents both Laxmikanth and his wife were managing various tasks of their pets, including attending vet appointments, buying food, handling daily needs and overall taking care of their pets.
However they were enjoying these responsibilities, but it was time-consuming in their busy schedule. Due to this overwhelming, both pet parents struggled to manage their time. This experience made them realise that there would be more people who were dealing with the same problem.
Despite ignoring the issue, they both were focusing on solutions and were determined to fill this gap. Their commitment led them to discover a better solution to simplify petcare. This is how Petfolk was born.
Petfolk- Solution:
Headquartered in Hyderabad, in April 2022, Laxmikanth Puducherri launched his startup, Petfolk, a pet service company.
Petfolk is a one-stop solution that connects pet parents with pet services through their app. But soon, during their service, Laxmikanth and his team identified a gap in the pet care market. This was the turning point in their business, which led them to new heights of success.
Petfolk Turning Point:
Initially, Petfolk was just an aggregator app to connect customers with pet service providers.
But soon, Laxmikanth and his team discovered a gap in the pet care market. They noticed that due to being independent service providers, they were not consistently meeting the high expectations of pet owners.
To fill this gap, Laxmikanth and his team created a solution. The solution was to convert their business model from an aggregator model to a direct service provider.
This initiative led them to mobile pet grooming, where they provided grooming services to customers at their doorstep.
Now Petfolk created modern mobile grooming vans called the "Chalta Firta Pet Ecosystem." These vans are designed with unique features, such as switchable glass panels, allowing pet owners to watch the grooming procedure in progress.
Why did Pelfolk choose Bikes?
A lot of pet owners in Hyderabad loved Petfolk's mobile grooming service. However, they faced difficulties, such as road jams, which made it challenging to deliver service on time. In order to address this issue, they started using grooming bikes, which are smaller and faster, to ensure that pets still receive the same high-quality care.
Petfolk: Reaching New Heights:
After this initiative, Petfolk started booming and has expanded into pet apparel, food, and insurance plans. Today, they take care of more than 40,000 pets, between 2000 and 3000 of those repeat customers.
Furthermore, Petfolk established a grooming institute to address the lack of qualified pets, providing its employees with professional training and certification to uphold high service standards.
The Challenging Journey of Petfolk:
Petfolk had a hard time in the beginning because, around the first 6 to 9 months, the Petfolk had no revenue. But Laxmikanth didn't lose his hope and started identifing the gap and soon began focusing on solutions, reinvesting approx ₹1Cr. in business.
The best part of his story is that he never left the situation as it is whereas always tried to find the solution as soon as possible. However, his efforts paid off, and now this company generates ₹15,000 and 2,0000 every day.
Petfolk Future Strategies:
With plans for Mumbai, Goa and Visakhapatnam facilities and new branches opening in Rajahmundry, Petfolk is growing after its success in Hyderabad. They want to improve accessibility in urban and rural areas by partnering with local authorities to set up grooming hubs in public places. They plan to achieve a target of ₹2000 Cr over the next 10 years.
