Happy Pet Care: Bengaluru Entrepreneur Creates India’s One-Stop Tech Hub for Pets

In early 2024, Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Anil Reddy founded Happy Pet Care, a novel pet-tech platform intending to organize India's burgeoning but scattered pet industry—worth over ₹25,000 crore—under one digital umbrella.

Like many novice pet parents, Anil was always Googling issues like "Why won't my dog eat?", "How do I travel with pets?" and "Which breed is best for my home?" The internet was full of conflicting answers, and none of them were reliable enough.

That's when he decided to launch Happy Pet Care, a platform that provides dependable, expert-verified answers and connects pet owners to every necessary service—from breeders and vets to trainers, pet stores, and shelters.

Founder's Journey: From Design Studios to Pet-Tech.

Anil Reddy, who identifies himself as "an artist by heart, designer by soul, and entrepreneur by choice," has had a lengthy career in the design industry.

Anil, originally from Karnataka, studied visual communication before moving to New Zealand to earn a Master's in design.  In 2012, he founded the now-famous Lollypop Design Studio, which expanded to serve major Indian firms such as Swiggy, Myntra, and Paytm before being acquired by an American company in 2019.

In 2023, while developing his dream dog-friendly home and assisting a friend's pet-related firm, Anil saw a significant market gap. That was his lightbulb moment.

The Birth of Happy Pet Care

Happy Pet Care was formally founded in January 2024. Founded by a tiny team of three people, initially Anil and his colleague started brainstorming, and later Anil hired a researcher. The firm began with a single goal: to simplify pet rearing through a single, tech-driven platform.

Anil had experience developing businesses, but the pet world was new to him. He spent countless hours studying, networking with specialists, and learning about the pet environment from scratch.

Surprisingly, the pet market is extremely open. Everyone was happy to offer their knowledge. There is no gatekeeping on the platform.

However, transitioning from a primarily offline economy to digital was difficult.  Many veterinarians, retailers, and breeders were accustomed to old practices. The team concentrated on raising awareness by demonstrating how technology could make their jobs easier and more efficient.

By June 2024, Happy Pet Care went live.
