Zepto’s meat business CEO Chandan Rungta quits amid leadership churn

Chandan Rungta, the CEO of Zepto’s meat business, has resigned less than a year after taking on the role, according to media reports. 

Zepto confirmed that Rungta, who joined the company in December, has left.

In recent weeks, Zepto’s meat business has continued to expand to keep up its growth momentum. The quick commerce startup initially focused on its own private label, Relish, to drive sales. However, it has now reintroduced licious, a leading meat brand, to its product lineup to sustain its growth.

Relish is generating monthly sales of around ₹40–50 crore, translating to an annual revenue run rate of ₹480–600 crore, according to sources.

Zepto has witnessed several employee exits in recent months. According to sources, Chandresh Dedhia, the vice president and head of information technology, resigned less than a year after joining the company in December 2024.

Apoorv Pandey, senior vice president of strategy at Zepto, has resigned from the company, sources said. Pandey, who joined from rival Eternal (formerly Zomato) in September 2024, left shortly after Shashank Shekhar Sharma, CXO of Zepto Cafe, stepped down.

Sharma, who previously worked at Chai Point, played a key role in scaling Zepto Cafe along with Pandey. He was one of Zepto’s early employees and spent over three years at the company before leaving in October.

According to sources, Yash Heda, senior director at Zepto, is now overseeing Zepto Cafe alongside Vinay Dhanani, the company’s president, to lead the business vertical.
