Uber Launches Courier XL in India for Large-Scale Deliveries

On Monday, ride-hailing company Uber launched Courier XL, an extension of its Courier service, to help deliver large items.

Courier XL is now available in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, with more cities to follow soon. It lets users send large packages weighing up to 750 kilograms.

Uber will use three- and four-wheeler vehicles for these deliveries, offering a quick, tech-driven solution for heavier items.

“Courier XL is our answer to a growing demand from users — especially small businesses and households — who need a reliable way to move heavier goods across the city. Whether it’s inventory, furniture, or large parcels, we’re making big moves simpler and smarter,” said Shiva Shailendran, director – consumer and growth, Uber India South Asia.

Uber launched Courier XL after seeing strong growth in its bike-based delivery service, Uber Courier, which is now available in 25 cities and has served over 5 million users.

The company said Courier deliveries grew by over 50% in 2024, with continued growth in early 2025.

Courier XL will compete with other on-demand delivery services like Porter, Borzo, and Mover. Porter, the biggest player in this space focused on MSMEs, recently raised $200 million from investors Kedaara Capital and Wellington Management.
