Swiggy Enters Travel and Lifestyle Space with New App Crew

Swiggy has started testing a travel and lifestyle concierge app, Crew, as seen on the google Play Store.

This is the company's latest move beyond food delivery, dining, quick commerce, and services.

Crew is a travel and lifestyle concierge app that combines real people with AI to help users plan their trips, not just suggest itineraries.

Last year, before its IPO, Swiggy began testing a premium concierge service called Rare Life, offering exclusive experiences. But the project was shut down as Swiggy chose not to expand it beyond a small group of users.

In January, the company launched Pyng, a marketplace for professional services. This move shows Swiggy is adopting a “house of apps” approach—like China’s Alibaba and Meituan—by creating separate apps for different services.

This is different from the “superapp” model, where users access multiple services through a single app. So far, superapps haven’t seen much success at scale in India.

Along with Crew and Pyng, Swiggy now runs its main app, which includes food delivery, quick commerce, dining out, and its events platform, Scenes. In January, it also launched a separate app for Instamart, its quick commerce service.

Swiggy recently paused its parcel delivery service, Genie, which was active in 70 cities. It has also licensed its cloud kitchen brands to Kouzina, a food service company, and plans to fully hand over these businesses once certain conditions are met.
