Shivnath Thukral Resigns as VP of India public policy at Meta

Shivnath Thukral, Meta India’s VP of Public Policy, has announced his exit from the company, effective end of this month.

He shared the news on LinkedIn on Wednesday, marking the end of a 7.5-year journey with Meta.

Kevin Martin, VP, head of global policy, Meta, in a statement, said, "Shivnath Thukral is leaving Meta to pursue new opportunities. As a member of the India leadership team, he played a key role in navigating and shaping policy, and regulatory conversations and engagements that were critical for the industry and Meta in India over the last 7.5 years. We thank him for his leadership and contributions, and wish him well in his future endeavours."

Thukral shared that he plans to focus more on running, health, and family in the coming days, and hinted at a return by saying he’ll be “back soon.”

In November 2022, Thukral took over as head of public policy for Meta in India after Rajiv Aggarwal’s departure. He was later elevated to his current role in March 2023.

Thukral spent over seven years at Meta, joining in 2017 as Public Policy Director for India and South Asia. In 2022, he transitioned internally to lead public policy for WhatsApp India.

Thukral’s exit comes shortly after Meta expanded the role of its India VP, Sandhya Devanathan, to include leadership of Southeast Asia operations. His departure also aligns with a broader trend, following google India’s public policy head, Sreenivasa Reddy, stepping down in February this year.
