Rishen Kapoor Joins Peak XV After Toplyne Shutdown

Months after the shutdown of SaaS startup Toplyne, co-founder and CEO Rishen Kapoor, has rejoined the investment team at VC firm Peak XV Partners.

Before founding Toplyne, Kapoor worked with Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India & SEA) on Surge, a platform for early-stage startups.

Kapoor announced on LinkedIn, "Building Toplyne was rewarding but challenging. We worked with great customers and teammates, but decided to close the business. The lessons from that journey will stay with me. Peak XV has always felt like home, and I'm excited to be back, working with founders shaping the future."

Toplyne shut down in October 2024, citing challenges in scaling and finding product-market fit.

Before joining Peak XV, Kapoor worked as the lead product manager at CleverTap, a customer engagement platform.

Founded in 2021 by Rishen Kapoor, Ruchin Kulkarni and Rohit Khanna, Toplyne provided an AI-powered platform to help product-led companies turn free users into paying customers. The platform used AI to analyze customer data and create target audiences that could be converted through ads, in-app nudges, emails, sales, and more.

Its key customers included Canva, Grafana, InVideo, BrowserStack, and Gather.Town.

Before shutting down, Toplyne raised over $17 million from investors including Peak XV, Tiger Global, Surge, Together Fund, and angel investors like Kunal Shah and Harshil Mathur.
