Reliance Retail acquires Kelvinator to boost its durables business

Isha Ambani-led Reliance Retail has acquired Kelvinator, the well-known refrigerator and washing machine brand, to expand its presence in the growing home appliances market.

The company did not reveal the deal amount.

Reliance plans to combine its wide retail reach with Kelvinator’s strong reputation for quality and innovation.

Kelvinator, which started in the early 1900s and became popular in India during the 1970s and ’80s with its famous tagline “The Coolest One,” continues to hold nostalgic value. It is known for making reliable, high-performance and affordable appliances.

Reliance Retail plans to use Kelvinator’s strong brand and product expertise to expand its range across key consumer durables like refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and kitchen appliances.
