The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and bike taxi company rapido signed an agreement in New Delhi to help gig workers across India find jobs.
Through this partnership, NSDC’s training centers will connect with Rapido’s transport network to offer steady income opportunities to people across the country.
NSDC will find and train candidates in technical and safety skills and give them certificates to improve their job chances. Rapido will support driver partners by helping them access bikes and autos and adding them to its app-based platform.

This initiative builds on Rapido's current network, which helps around two million driver partners earn an income every month and has provided job opportunities for over five million people. The platform handles about 3.5 million rides daily across more than 500 cities.
The partnership responds to the growing demand for flexible jobs in India's expanding gig economy.
"Our mission is to empower India's workforce with industry-relevant skills and connect them to meaningful earning opportunities," said Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and Managing Director of NSDC International. "This collaboration will equip individuals with the skills needed to thrive as driver partners."
Pavan Guntupalli, Co-Founder of Rapido, remarked: "We are thrilled to partner with NSDC in creating earning opportunities for over half a million driver partners every month. At Rapido, our mission has always been to empower individuals by fostering sustainable livelihoods. Our recently launched Pink Mobility initiative is a reflection of our focus on diversity and dedication to ensuring equal opportunities for women and building a more inclusive mobility ecosystem."
NSDC, a government-supported organization, leads India's skill development efforts and promotes vocational training programs while supporting businesses that create jobs in emerging sectors.
This collaboration aims to improve employability for candidates, enhance customer experiences, and offer driver partners stable incomes and certified training for long-term professional growth.
