Accel Elevates Rachit Parekh, Pratik Agarwal to partner in India office

Global venture capital firm Accel has promoted Rachit Parekh and Pratik Agarwal to partners in its India office. 

Both joined Accel in 2019 and have played key roles in finding new investments, working with founders and supporting portfolio companies.

Accel has been investing in India since 2008 and was an early backer of companies like Flipkart, Freshworks, Swiggy, Zetwerk and BlackBuck.

The promotions reflect Accel’s focus on growing leaders from within as it looks to invest in new areas like AI, digital infrastructure, and next-gen consumer and fintech startups.

Earlier this year, Accel announced its eighth India-focused fund, with $650 million set aside to invest in startups from the seed stage to scale. 

The firm has a history of promoting from within—back in 2019, three principals were also made partners.

"With a growing team and renewed capital, Accel remains focused on identifying and supporting ambitious founders building for India and the world-bringing a hands-on approach, deep sector knowledge, and long-term alignment to every partnership," Accel said in a statement to PTI.

In recent years, Accel has launched key initiatives to make things easier for founders and help grow the startup ecosystem.

Its open platform, SeedToScale, shares useful tips and insights from successful founders and experts to help others build companies.

Accel’s early-stage program, Accel Atoms, is now in its fourth edition and has supported 36 startups so far, which have together raised over $200 million.
