Qualcomm to invest $150 Mn in Indian AI and tech startups through its venture arm

Qualcomm announced a new Strategic AI Venture Fund in India, planning to invest up to $150 million. The fund, managed by Qualcomm Ventures, will support startups at different stages, focusing on AI applications in automotive, IoT, robotics, and mobile.

The announcement was made while CEO Cristiano Amon attended the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Qualcomm said the fund will support India’s growing AI startup ecosystem, with a focus on edge AI and industry-focused technologies.

Qualcomm said it sees strong opportunities as India’s startup ecosystem expands and AI adoption increases. The company aims to help emerging startups develop solutions that make a real market impact. Quinn Li, Senior Vice President at Qualcomm Technologies and Global Head of Qualcomm Ventures, described India as one of the world’s most vibrant innovation hubs.

“Through our new Strategic AI Venture Fund, Qualcomm is investing in companies that are advancing the next chapter of AI in India,” said Cristiano Amon, president and CEO, Qualcomm Incorporated. “AI is entering a new phase where intelligence is built directly into devices and systems people depend on every day, from smartphones and PCs to cars, industrial machines, robots, and more,” he added.

Qualcomm sees a strong opportunity in India as the country’s startup ecosystem grows and AI advances rapidly. The company plans to support startups that can drive the next wave of innovation with technologies that create real-world impact across industries.

Qualcomm has been investing in India’s startup ecosystem since 2007 and has backed over 40 companies. Its current and past portfolio includes Jio, MapMyIndia, ideaForge, Shadowfax, Cavli Wireless, SpotDraft, and Tonetag.
