Priyanka Gill Step Down from Kalaari Capital To Float Her New Venture

Priyanka Gill, cofounder of The Good Glamm Group who joined Kalaari Capital as a venture partner in January last year has now stepped down from the firm to start her own venture.

Gill is launching Coluxe, a brand of lab-grown diamonds (LGDs), in response to the growing demand for affordable synthetic diamonds.

This comes after several local LGD brands have entered the market. Online sales will begin in May, followed by a physical store.

Coluxe will offer products like solitaire rings, pendants, earrings, tennis bracelets, necklaces and signature pieces.

Lab-grown diamonds are becoming more popular worldwide due to their lower price and better quality compared to natural diamonds.

Gill said that large-scale shifts in consumer behavior, like moving from natural to lab-grown diamonds, don’t happen often. “It’s happening in the fine jewelry sector," she explained.

She also pointed out that most existing brands market LGDs mainly as a cheaper option compared to mined diamonds, rather than focusing on design and variety. “What stands out to me is that only 6% of gold jewelry buyers in India own diamonds. There’s a huge opportunity for growth," she added.

Gill said she is now looking to raise a Series A round after securing early-stage funding to start her venture.

About Priyanka Gill

Gill founded PopXo, a content community that was acquired by the Prosus-backed Good Glamm in 2020. She then became a co-founder at Good Glamm. Gill left her operational role at Good Glamm at the end of 2023.

In February 2024, she joined Kalaari Capital as a partner, leading its CXXO initiative to invest in women-led businesses. During her time at Kalaari, Gill did not lead any funding rounds. She stepped down from her role at Kalaari on January 15.

PopXo was backed by Kalaari Capital before being acquired by the now-troubled Good Glamm (formerly MyGlamm).
