ONDC appoints Sunil J. Singhi as Independent Director

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has appointed Sunil J. Singhi as an Independent Director on its board.

He brings strong experience in policy-making, business leadership, and community development. ONDC says his addition will support its goal of building a more open, fair, and inclusive digital commerce system across India.

Sunil J. Singhi is currently the Chairman of the National Traders’ Welfare Board. Over the years, he has played key roles in various government and community initiatives.

He has held major leadership positions, such as Vice Chairman of the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation and Chairman of the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, where he helped over 50,000 businesses and industries access welfare benefits.

Singhi also served as a Director at FCI Aravali Gypsum and Minerals India Ltd. Notably, he was the first Jain representative on the National Commission for Minorities under the Government of India.

Sunil J. Singhi has long been closely connected with India’s trading communities and is a strong advocate for the rights and welfare of small retailers, distributors, and unorganised workers.

He has led large-scale initiatives focused on education, skill development, livelihoods, and welfare—especially aimed at improving the lives of workers and traders in underserved areas.
