NPCI launches 'UPI One World' wallet service for foreign delegates at India AI Impact Summit 2026

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has made its 'UPI One World' wallet service available to international delegates at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

This pilot program is open to visitors from more than 40 countries attending the summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from February 16–20.

The service lets foreign visitors make real-time Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payments anywhere in India without needing a local bank account or an Indian mobile number.

Sohini Rajola, Executive Director - Growth, NPCI, said, "UPI is the world's largest real-time payment system. By extending the 'UPI One World' service to foreign guests at the India AI Impact Summit, we are providing a convenient way to experience India's real-time payments ecosystem and Made in India technology. This initiative also offers a glimpse into how smoother cross-border payment systems can support a more connected global digital economy."

The wallet can be used through authorised issuers at New Delhi International Airport and the NPCI Pavilion at the summit. Visitors can load it with international debit or credit cards and pay by scanning regular UPI QR codes. Each transaction can go up to Rs 25,000, with a monthly limit of Rs 50,000. Any leftover balance can be returned to the original card following foreign exchange rules.

This launch comes after strong growth for UPI which processed 21.70 billion transactions in January 2026. By using this system at the India AI Impact Summit, NPCI aims to showcase India’s digital payment infrastructure to global policymakers and tech leaders, to reduce the need for cash and simplifying foreign exchange for international visitors.
