Lenskart gets shareholder nod to raise Rs 2,150 crore via IPO

Shareholders of lenskart, the omnichannel eyewear brand, have approved its plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO), as per regulatory filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC).

At its annual general meeting held on Saturday, shareholders agreed to raise ₹2,150 crore (around $250 million) through the IPO. Sources familiar with the matter said the total issue size could go up to $1 billion.

A source said that Lenskart is preparing to file its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) soon.

This move will place Lenskart among other major new-age companies like groww, meesho, PhysicsWallah and Pine Labs, which are also filing for IPOs this year.

 In total, around 14 venture-backed startups plan to raise over ₹20,000 crore from the public markets in 2025.

Regulatory filings also revealed that Lenskart’s shareholders—including SoftBank, Kedaara Capital, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Fidelity, and Temasek—have approved a new employee stock option plan (ESOP 2025), which includes 7.2 million shares. According to reports, around 19% of Lenskart’s total shares are currently set aside for its ESOP pool.

Lenskart operates in India as well as international markets including the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.

In FY24, the company’s operating revenue rose by 43% year-on-year to ₹5,428 crore, while its net loss reduced to ₹10 crore from ₹64 crore in FY23.
