Ananya Birla, the eldest daughter of Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, is entering the multi-billion dollar beauty and personal care industry. This is her third business venture, following her work in artificial intelligence and microfinance.

The 30-year-old Ananya Birla, who started a microlending business at 17 and is on the board of the Aditya Birla Group’s strategic team, will launch a range of beauty and personal care brands across India by 2025, according to a statement.

The names of Ananya Birla’s makeup, fragrance, and other products, along with other details, are being kept secret for now. This move will put her in competition with major players like Reliance Industries (where Isha Ambani, daughter of chairman Mukesh Ambani, leads the beauty and lifestyle segments),Tatas, HUL and L'Oreal.

Ananya’s company- Birla Cosmetics, plans to launch its beauty and personal care brands this year. As the brand ambassador for Maybelline (owned by L'Oreal), she is focusing on the beauty and personal care market, which is expected to reach $34 billion by 2028, growing at 10-11% annually due to rising incomes, increased e-commerce, and greater interest in new products.

"With greater exposure to global products and knowledge, Indian consumers now demand more from home-grown brands. This venture aims to meet those expectations with authenticity and innovation and bring world-class products to the Indian marketplace," Birla said.

At 17, Ananya Birla started Svatantra Microfin, which is now the second-largest company in the microfinance sector. Recently, she launched a Beta version of Sophius, a homegrown AI platform introduced at IIT Bombay, with plans to expand it nationwide.

Besides her businesses, Ananya is also a director at several Aditya Birla Group companies, including Hindalco, Grasim and Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail.
