Infibeam Avenues receives RBI approval to operate as offline payment aggregator

Infibeam Avenues has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a payment aggregator for physical (offline) payments under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.

The approval allows the company to provide offline payment services—mainly through POS machines—in addition to its existing licence for online payment aggregation.

The company said this approval will help it offer merchants a unified solution for both online and offline payments.

This is Infibeam Avenues’ fourth RBI licence for its CCAvenue payments business. The company already has licences for online payment aggregation, prepaid payment instruments, and Bharat Bill Pay Operating Unit.

The company already has licences for online payment aggregation, prepaid payment instruments (PPI), and Bharat Bill Pay.

Infibeam said the new licence will help it grow its merchant base as more businesses adopt POS machines. The company processed ₹8.67 lakh crore in payments across its payments and platform businesses in FY25, and now serves more than 10 million merchants in India and abroad.

The PSP licence will allow Infibeam to offer escrow services, cross-border transfers, and merchant acquisition for international clients from GIFT City.

Infibeam has also been reorganising its business to focus more on payments and AI. Earlier this year, it moved its ecommerce platform to its subsidiary Rediff.com for ₹800 crore and raised ₹350 crore through a rights issue in Q2 FY26 to boost its AI capabilities.

The offline payment aggregator framework includes POS machines placed at shops by banks and fintech companies. Infibeam Avenues has been expanding in this space since last year, including with its SoundBox Max device, which accepts payments through UPI, cards, and QR codes.

With this new approval, the company expects to grow its presence in India’s offline and digital payments ecosystem.
