Highest Number Of Lenses Published On Snapchat Come From India; Says Snap CTO

Snapchat's augmented reality (AR) developer community in India has grown by 50%, with the highest number of AR lenses created in the country, a Snap official said.

Globally, Snap has over 375,000 AR creators who have built more than 4 million AR lenses.

Snapchat users apply lens effects to change their appearance and create unique content.

"Indian developers are at the forefront of innovation, bringing engaging and creative experiences to life. In fact, among all countries, the highest number of lenses published on Snapchat come from India. And the developer community here has grown by more than half, over the last two years. India is an extraordinary country where AR has become a part of daily life," Snap CTO Bobby Murphy said.

"With over 200 million Snapchatters in India using the platform to express themselves, connect, and enjoy content visually, AR has become central to communication and creativity. Seeing Snapchatters engage with AR lenses over 80 billion times a month is a testament to the power of creative expression,"Snap India Managing Director Pulkit Trivedi said.

Trivedi also said India has a strong community of creators and developers leading the future of AR.

Snap said over 85% of Snapchat users in India use lenses to connect with loved ones, especially during festivals and cultural events.

At its second India AR Day in Mumbai, Snap also showcased its fifth-generation AR glasses, Spectacles, for the first time in India.
