The Delhi High Court has sent notices to foodtech leader Swiggy and quick‑commerce company Zepto because their apps are hard to use for visually impaired people.
A bench led by Justice Sachin Datta asked the IT ministry, Swiggy and Zepto’s operator, Kiranakart Technologies, to respond to a petition by Mission Accessibility.

The NGO’s petition, argued by lawyers Sarah and Taha Bin Tasneem said the apps lack features like screen‑reader compatibility, interactive elements and detailed product information that visually impaired users need.
The petition, filed by accessibility advocate Amar Jain, points out that under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the platforms must work with screen‑reader software. Without it, visually impaired users can’t browse products or place orders on their own.
The NGO argues this violates the constitutional rights of people with disabilities by blocking equal access to services like food delivery and grocery shopping.
The court will hear the case again on May 28.
