Google Cloud appoints veteran Karthik Narain as Chief product and business officer

In his new role, Narain will oversee product and engineering teams across cloud, data, developer tools, and Applied AI. He will also lead Google Cloud’s go-to-market strategy and collaborate with the Google Public Sector division.

google Cloud has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Karthik Narain as the new Chief Product and Business Officer.

Narain, formerly Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Accenture, will lead Google Cloud’s growth and strategic initiatives, focusing on the competitive AI and enterprise cloud market.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai described Narain as a “key leader” who will work directly with google cloud’s customers to help them leverage ai for business transformation. Pichai also said that Narain’s leadership will accelerate the company’s strong growth.

“I’m excited that Karthik Narain is joining Google Cloud as its Chief Product and Business Officer, a key leader on Thomas Kurian’s exceptional team. Karthik will partner closely with our Cloud customers as they transform their businesses with AI. In his new role, Karthik will help accelerate the strong growth we are already seeing in Google Cloud. Just over a week ago, we announced Gemini Enterprise, which has had a really positive response. In his new role, Narain will oversee product and engineering teams across cloud, data, developer tools, and Applied AI. He will also lead Google Cloud’s go-to-market strategy and collaborate with the Google Public Sector division.

With over 25 years in technology consulting, Narain previously served as CTO at Accenture and held senior positions at global tech firms like HCLTech.

Sharing his enthusiasm, Narain said he looks forward to blending his expertise in enterprise systems and business processes with Google’s advanced technologies and AI innovations. He called the role an “incredible opportunity” to create meaningful value for Google Cloud’s customers and partners.
