Foxconn plans to produce 25-30 million Apple iPhones in India this year, more than double last year's production.
This move is part of Apple’s effort to grow its manufacturing in India and diversify its production.
According to sources, Foxconn has been carrying out limited testing at its Bengaluru facility for the past few months, showing progress in expanding its operations across India.

"Last year, the company assembled about 12 million iPhones in India," a source said. "But with their Bengaluru facility also coming up quickly, they have set their ambitions a lot higher, in line with Apple's push to deepen their presence in India."
"The trial runs are the first phase… ," according to the person cited above. "(the trial runs are) to see if the plant is able to produce the phones at the scale required and without any compromise on Apple's stringent quality standards," said the person.
As Apple moves production away from China, Foxconn's operations in India have grown significantly. The Taiwanese company has increased its investments in mobile assembly in India and plans more expansion as Apple strengthens its presence in the country.
After completing successful trial runs, Foxconn can move to the "revenue build" stage, where the manufactured iPhones will be ready for shipping. Starting shipments from the Bengaluru unit will be key to reaching Foxconn's production goals. Industry analysts say that US President Donald Trump's tariff decisions are still a major factor to consider.
Foxconn's main focus remains on iPhone manufacturing. Chang expects India's production share to grow from 12-16% last year to 21-25% this year. Foxconn is committed to expanding its manufacturing in India in line with Apple's vision.
The company is also building a 300-acre facility in Bengaluru, which will be its second-largest after China. Foxconn has also opened a new unit in Hyderabad for AirPods production and continues its significant iPhone assembly operations near Chennai.
During his visit to India in August last year, Foxconn chairman Young Liu highlighted plans to expand beyond smartphones, with products in sectors like ICT, electric vehicles, energy and digital health.
