EV two-wheeler startup Zypp Electric has appointed Manoj Kohli, former SoftBank India head and Bharti Airtel veteran, as its senior advisor.
This strategic move aims to strengthen Zypp Electric’s leadership team and accelerate its plans for a public listing (IPO).
With over 45 years of experience spanning telecom, renewable energy, EVs, and AI-driven digital technology Kohli will focus on empowering the leadership team and developing a robust framework for sustained business success.
Commenting on his new role, Kohli stated, “My focus as an advisor will be on empowering the leadership team to achieve their ambitious goals while fostering a culture of excellence and integrity.”

Akash Gupta, CEO of Zypp Electric, said “His extensive experience in scaling global enterprises, coupled with his passion for sustainability, will play a pivotal role as we embark on our expansion journey.”
Previously, Kohli served as SoftBank India’s country head, overseeing $15 billion in investments across 25 AI-focused companies. During his tenure at Bharti Airtel as MD and CEO, he spearheaded the company’s expansion into 20 countries across Asia and Africa, growing its user base to over 400 million.
Kohli also holds advisory roles on notable boards, including the National Startup Advisory Council under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and as Chairperson at Masters’ Union.
Founded in 2017 by Akash Gupta and Rashi Agarwal, Zypp Electric’s revenue grew 168% to INR 292.7 Cr in FY24, while its net loss widened to INR 91.1 Cr.
The company operates a fleet of over 22,000 EVs, completing over 78 million deliveries across categories, including 20.5 million emission-free quick commerce deliveries.
Zypp Electric has raised approximately $75 million to date, with recent funding of $14 million from Japanese energy giant ENEOS. Its other investors include Gogoro, Venture Catalysts, and Indian Angel Network (IAN).
