Flipkart said the acquisition is intended to strengthen its core generative AI capabilities, as the e-commerce sector shifts toward visual, conversational and AI-driven discovery.

Aditya Rachakonda, Founder of Minivet AI, said, “This partnership with Flipkart is a pivotal moment for Minivet AI. It allows us to accelerate the deployment of our proprietary GenAI solutions, from catalog videofication to conversational search, directly onto India’s leading e-commerce platform at scale, making shopping more intuitive and immersive for millions of customers.”

Ravi Iyer, Senior Vice President – Corporate, Flipkart, said, “Acquiring Minivet AI is a strategic investment that will enhance Flipkart’s core GenAI capabilities by the integration of niche talent and advanced proprietary technology, which includes leading solutions for catalog videofication and semantic search. These are critical for addressing the rising industry trend of visual-first and video-first commerce, ultimately driving higher customer engagement, conversions and long-term innovation across the Flipkart platform and, over time, the wider Flipkart Group ecosystem.”

Minivet AI, founded in 2024 by Aditya Rachakonda, develops generative video and visual content solutions for e-commerce platforms. The startup uses AI to transform static product catalogs into engaging visual and video content.

The acquisition comes as ecommerce companies increasingly use AI for cataloguing and customer-facing applications with many platforms deploying AI tools to enhance content quality and consistency across large seller networks.

Flipkart did not provide details on the integration timeline or operational structure after the deal.

In September, Flipkart also acquired a majority stake in digital entertainment and lifestyle platform Pinkvilla for an undisclosed amount.
