The ePlane Company, known for its compact electric flying taxis and air ambulances, has partnered with ICATT to improve emergency medical response in India.

ICATT, a leading air ambulance provider, will acquire 788 air ambulances from ePlane to enable faster medical transport across all districts.

The financial details of the deal, valued at over $1 billion will be finalized closer to the delivery dates.

In 2022, india saw around 463 daily road accident deaths, highlighting the urgent need for faster medical transport. The national 108 emergency helpline receives 3000–4000 calls per day per state, further emphasizing this demand.

This partnership aims to create india’s largest air ambulance network, ensuring that all critical patients have access to life-saving care, no matter their location. ICATT will provide its expertise to help ePlane’s aircraft meet the required standards for air ambulances.

The goal is to reduce response times for transporting patients, organs, life-saving medicines, and medical equipment, especially in rural and accident-prone areas.

“Healthcare is a fundamental right and everyone should be able to access it when they need it. Here, we are integrating technology, health, and a very good cause so that no one is left behind,” said Shalini Nalwad, founder, ICATT.

“This is going to be a very good solution in terms of organ air-lifts. Around 95 per cent of registered patient recipients die before they get an organ. This is purely because of the lack of logistics, not due to lack of donors. This collaboration is going to solve the problem and redefine access to healthcare in India,” she added.

ePlane’s main aircraft, the e200x, is a small and efficient electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) plane. It provides safe, affordable, and eco-friendly air transport and can take off and land in tight spaces.

With a wingspan of just 8 meters, the e200x can take off from rooftops or open fields. It can transport patients seven times faster than ground vehicles.

In November 2024, The ePlane Company raised $14 million in a Series B funding round co-led by Speciale Invest and Antares Ventures.
