Aman Gupta, cofounder of consumer electronics brand boat, announced on Tuesday that he is launching a new venture called Offbeat Studios.
This move follows Gupta’s transition to a non-executive director role on Boat’s board last September. In recent years, many entrepreneurs have stepped away from active roles at their startups to start new ventures.

“With every birthday, some grow older, I grow bolder. I am still hungry, still impatient and still driven. Aman 2.0 begins soon. Introducing my new venture,” he said in a post on X, without disclosing details.
Sameer Mehta, cofounder and CEO of Imagine Marketing, also moved to an executive director role, while COO Gaurav Nayyar took over as CEO.
These leadership changes occurred as the company was preparing for an IPO. However, Boat’s IPO plans faced scrutiny after statutory auditors flagged discrepancies between the quarterly returns filed with lenders and the company’s books of account.
Boat has reportedly postponed its plans to go public. The company had aimed to raise Rs 1500 crore, including Rs 500 crore through fresh shares and Rs 1000 crore via an offer for sale by existing investors as per its updated prospectus.
