Bajaj Auto Takes the Lead in Two-Wheeler EV Sales for December

Bajaj Auto has taken the lead in India’s two-wheeler EV market, surpassing Ola Electric in December. VAHAN data shows Bajaj sold 18,276 EVs, capturing a 24.93% market share, while Ola Electric sold 13,769 units with an 18.78% share. 

Both companies experienced a drop in sales compared to November, as total EV sales fell from 1,19,654 in November to 73,316 in December.

Market share of companies

Ola Electric’s market share dropped from 24.7% in November to 18.78% in December, with sales falling from 29,196 to 13,769 units. However, Ola remained the annual leader with a 35.5% market share, boosted by strong sales in March and July. In December, TVS Motor ranked second with 17,212 units sold and a 23.48% market share, while Ather Energy held 14.2% with 10,421 units sold.

To stay ahead of growing competition, Ola Electric has launched new vehicles and expanded its stores from 800 to 4,000. Starting April 2025, it plans to use its own batteries in its electric scooters.

Bajaj Auto's new platform comes with advanced features and is expected to cut costs by 45%, boosting margins. TVS is expanding its reach for the I-Qube electric scooter, adding 250 EV outlets and increasing its total touchpoints to about 4,000 stores. Ather Energy is also growing its presence in North India and sees strong demand in key EV markets like Gujarat and Maharashtra.
