Akasa Air Co-Founder Praveen Iyer Resigns, Second Top-Level Exit in Three Years

Akasa Air’s co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Praveen Iyer, has resigned, marking the second top-level departure at the three-year-old airline.

Iyer was part of Akasa Air’s founding team, which began operations in August 2022, and also served on the airline’s executive committee.

The airline has appointed Chief Information Officer Anand Srinivasan as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

“Praveen has been instrumental in shaping not just Akasa's commercial vision but the airline itself…,” Vinay Dube, founder and chief executive officer at Akasa Air, said in a statement. “We are grateful for his leadership, clarity of thought, and long-term perspective during the formative years of the airline.”

“Anand has been one of the early architects of Akasa…,” Dube went on to say. “His ability to combine commercial strategy with a tech-first mindset is extremely exciting as we enter our next phase of growth and complexity.”

Last year, Akasa Air experienced the departure of another co-founder, Neelu Khatri, who led its international operations.

The airline is backed by the family of the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and raised fresh capital in August 2025 from the family offices of Wipro founder Azim Premji and Ranjan Pai.
