"Discussions covered Starlink's cutting-edge technology platform, their existing partnerships and future investment plans in India," Goyal said in a post on X.
This meeting happened just over a month after Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel announced partnerships with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to bring Starlink to India. Both telecom companies plan to display Starlink equipment in their stores. Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea is still in early discussions with the company.
Starlink sees big potential in India, hoping to reach a large number of users. As of February 2025, it already had over 5 million users in 125 countries.
Starlink aims to offer high-speed internet, delivering several terabytes per second. Much of the system needed is already in place and just needs government approvals to go live.
Currently, Starlink has a total capacity of 350 Tbps, which is expected to grow quickly with the rollout of its third-generation satellites.
However, the company is still waiting for final approvals from the Indian government to start full operations for both individual and business customers.
