U.S. President Donald Trump criticized India’s tariff system, claiming it’s nearly impossible to sell anything to India because of the "high tariffs."
Speaking to reporters, Trump highlighted the tariffs his administration plans to implement soon.
He also mentioned that India has agreed to reduce its tariffs significantly, allegedly because “someone is finally exposing them for what they have done.”

“India charges us massive tariffs. Massive. You can’t even sell anything in India... They have agreed, by the way; they want to cut their tariffs way down now because somebody is finally exposing them for what they have done,” Mr. Trump said.
This comes as the U.S. prepares to impose reciprocal tariffs on countries that place high taxes on American products.
The reciprocal tariffs which will start on April 2, represent a major shift in U.S. trade policy. Trump emphasized that the U.S. will no longer allow other countries, including India, to take advantage of it.
This news comes as reports suggest Tesla is aiming for zero tariffs as it plans to enter the Indian market soon. Currently, India charges import duties of up to 110% on vehicles, a rate Tesla CEO Elon Musk has called one of the highest in the world. These high tariffs previously caused Tesla to drop its plans to enter India's automobile market, which is the third-largest in the world.
India has taken a more cautious approach in the trade conflict, while countries like Canada, China, and Mexico have responded by imposing reciprocal tariffs on the U.S. and filing complaints with the World Trade Organization.
